GRUPO CAPOEIRA BRASIL
Grupo Capoeira Brasil was formed on January 14, 1989 in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. The inauguration, sponsored by a council of legendary mestres from various organizations, began an amazing capoeira dynasty, which today is one of the largest in the world. The "padrinhos," or godfathers of Grupo Capoeira Brasil include Mestres Suassuna, Itapoan, Peixinho, and the late Ezekiel.
Under the supervision of its three founding Mestres, Mestre Boneco, Mestre Paulinho Sabia, and Mestre Paulao Ceara, Grupo Capoeira Brasil is today one of the most highly recognized groups in the world. Currently, there are greatly respected and qualified Mestres, Contra Mestres, Professors and Instructors teaching throughout the entire world.
What makes Capoeira Brasil such a successful group is the sense of a close community that has resulted in the making of many friendships. Each teacher invests his time and energy in supporting others within the group and the Capoeira community in general by teaching, organizing workshops, attending events and motivating foreign exchange students to train. Your instructor's relationship to the Capoeira world is what helps you as a student to develop into a better capoeirista. Through traveling and exchanging with those both inside and outside of their direct community, Capoeira Brasil Mestres, Contra Mestres and teachers are able to remain on the cutting edge of Capoeira’s development. By combining new techniques with the traditional elements and roots of Capoeira, Grupo Capoeira Brasil continues to grow and remains one of the largest groups in the world.
MESTRE PAULAO CEARA
Mestre Paulão Ceará started training in 1989 and taught with the Capoeria Group Senzala.
In 1989 Mestre Paulão founded Grupo Capoeira Brasil together with Mestre Boneco and Mestre Paulinho Sabiá. He developed the style futher in Fortaleza in Ceará, where the group was growing very rapidly. It has now even become one of the defining style organisations in Brazil.
From 1993 till today Mestre Paulão first moved to the Netherlands and gave shape to the development of Capoeira in Europe. Mestre Paulão has trained many European teachers and a number of Brazilian teachers to pass on the legacy here in Europe.
Since 1993, Mestre Paulão has hosted countless workshops, made many TV appearances and has performed many demonstrations over the world to teach Brazilian culture and tradition. Mestre Paulão is a welcome guest at the batizados of other organisations, and travels around the world to visit Capoeira events and support capoeiristas and the entire community.

Cords
To earn a cord that displays the students level of development, the teacher will look at more than just techniques or the amount of years in training. Each individual develops differently over the years. So don't be surprised when students do not get the cord you thought they would get. Grupo Capoeira Brasil uses 11 cords/grades that can be achieved and to become a master.
Trusting the teacher in giving his students the right cord is the same as trusting him/her in teaching at all. Many people forget that wearing a certain cord also protects the students from getting hurt by others that do not know them.
The first five cords are recognized as motivation cords and only include acquiring the basic knowledge and to control the basic techniques. Al cords from there come with a title that, that emphysizes certain responsibilities that come with these cords. The picture and table below display all cords, titles and meaning.
